The Troutville Rescue Squad provides emergency medical services to the Town of Troutville and surrounding areas of Botetourt County. The squad was established in 1956 and is currently housed as "Station 2" with the Troutville Fire Department at 20 Sunset Avenue in Troutville VA. After 52 years of operation the department is still holding strong with over 36 members many which are dual trained and members of the Fire Department. Support from Boterourt County has allowed a staffed 12 hour Advanced Life Support Ambulance to help cover daytime calls for not only Troutville but for all of Botetourt County.
In 2007 the department was dispatched to over 1,200 calls. The primary response area includes approximately 49 square miles of the southern edge of Botetourt County. This territory is heavily populated with residential, commercial, and industrial facilities. This along with the 22 miles of interstate provides the potential for a wide variety of emergencies. The Troutville Rescue Squad and the Troutville Fire Department work very close together to provide the best possible service to the public.
Together the Troutville Rescue Squad and Fire Department exist to protect and preserve the lives and property of residents and visitors of Troutville and Botetourt County from damage or loss due to fire, medical emergencies, environmental hazards, and traumatic accidents.
